🇺🇸🇨🇦 Never Forget – 9/11 Memorial at the Peace Arch

Today, members of Whatcom County Fire Departments (Local 106) joined with our brothers and sisters from across British Columbia to honor the fallen heroes of September 11, 2001.

The annual 9/11 Memorial Ride and Ceremony concluded at the Peace Arch, bringing together fire departments, first responders, and community members from both sides of the border. Departments from across Whatcom County and Canada stood shoulder to shoulder in remembrance.

This ceremony was not only about reflection, but about unity—recognizing the bravery and sacrifice of all those who responded on that tragic day, and ensuring that their legacy is never forgotten.

We remember the 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, 55 military personnel, and the thousands of civilians whose lives were lost.

🙏 A special thank-you to North Whatcom Fire and Rescue for their significant contributions in helping make this event possible.

We will never forget.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lieutenant Larry Doll of the Seattle Fire Department. Lt. Doll faithfully served the Seattle community for 19 years as a Firefighter, Paramedic, Lieutenant, and Medical Services Officer. He also served our nation honorably in the United States Marine Corps. His legacy of dedication, service, and brotherhood will not be forgotten. We hold his family, friends, and fellow firefighters in our hearts during this difficult time. Rest easy, Brother.

His legacy of dedication, service, and brotherhood will not be forgotten. We hold his family, friends, and fellow firefighters in our hearts during this difficult time. Rest easy, Brother. We are heartbroken to share that Lieutenant Larry Doll passed away Monday following a medical emergency experienced on Aug. 13 while off-duty. Lt. Larry Doll was 55 years old and began employment with the Seattle Fire Department in 2006 as a member of Recruit Class 91. He dedicated 19 years of his life serving the Seattle community, spending time working on Engines 11 and 31 before becoming a firefighter/paramedic in 2012. In 2023, Larry promoted to lieutenant and later became one of our Medical Services Officers overseeing the paramedics on duty for A platoon. Lt. Doll also served our nation honorably as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Larry was surrounded by close family members in his final moments. We are holding them, his friends and fellow colleagues close in our hearts as we grieve his loss - may he rest in peace.
