Two of our members, Bellingham Firefighter/Paramedic Oscar Sigl and North Whatcom Firefighter/EMT Liz Bronder, recently attended this year’s IAFF 7th District New Member Conference. This valuable opportunity allowed them to deepen their understanding of what it truly means to be part of a union.

Throughout the conference, they learned about the core principles of unionism, including the importance of solidarity, collective bargaining, political advocacy, and member representation. The conference also covered the rich history of the IAFF and how new members can play an active role in shaping the future of our locals and the labor movement as a whole.

Thank you to Ricky Walsh and his incredible team for putting on such a fantastic event that engages new members in union work and inspires the next generation of union leadership.
